The Language of Fabric

A bolt of cloth communicates before it is cut — its drape when held at arm's length, the sound it makes when folded, the way it holds or releases a crease.

We spend as much time reading fabric as we do drawing patterns, because a garment drafted without listening to its material rarely survives contact with it.
